Personal effectiveness competencies form the foundation needed to be ready to enter the workplace, and are essential for all life roles. Often referred to as "soft skills," personal effectiveness competencies are generally learned at home or in the community, and reinforced or honed in school and the workplace. They represent personal attributes that are tied to developmental life stages, and are progressively acquired through lifelong learning and continuing professional development.
Our approach is protean, whereby it allows individuals to take on a variety of roles while remaining highly functioning, effective and adaptive to work-life challenges.
Multiple Career Pathways in Social Technopreneurship
Rather than charting a career path toward a single, long-term goal, individuals will explore multiple career paths and their interrelatedness—thereby shifting from the career ladder to a career lattice model—that will enable individuals to meet the needs if employers who are assembling workforces that are not only technically skilled and cross-trained, but flexible and cost-effective.
In this framework, a Social Technopreneur who wants to enjoy a quality standard of living must be prepared to make wise career transitions and to continuously learn new skills. Individuals can expect to gain a developmental understanding of their own strengths and weaknesses, the ever-evolving requirements of the workplace, and the relationship of lifelong learning to career success.
Social Innovation and Business Integration through Internet Technologies
Mastery of internet and technology tools is a requirement rather than an option for enhancing academic, business and personal performance. To prepare Social Technopreneurs to be successful in today's global business environment, which is increasingly dependent on—and defined by—internet technologies, there is a need to focus on the use of internet and technology as a tool for facilitating business functions, solving problems and improving lives.
There are three parts to Social Technopreneurship training. First we focus on the Social Technopreneur as an individual, laying the basic foundation of efficiency and effectiveness, and having what it takes to thrive in the 21st century. Next we help the Social Technopreneur to map out a career pathway to pursue Social Technopreneurship in their own area of interest or expertise - skills that are necessary not only for individuals who will become entrepreneurs, but also for individuals working in the increasingly competitive corporate world. Finally we consider the widespread use of technology, internet and e-commerce to innovate and integrate interactive internet technologies to identify and solve various business/social problems, including developing a business/social presence on the internet.
